The Smell Of Home

Hello my loves and welcome to yet another blog post. As you could probably see on my Instagram either stories or feed, Žiga and I are moving to our own apartment.

This is something that we were both waiting for, from February and it’s kind of funny how things change. In February we had something totally different in mind, something a little bit modern, but then the whole quarantine started and I’m glad it gave us time to think about where we wanted to live.

During the quarantine, I started browsing on real estate websites, if something catches my eye, and when I saw this apartment I said we need to go and check it out! After the quarantine ended we went there and I swear to you as soon as we stepped in, it just felt like we lived there in our previous lives, funny right? It also felt like somebody just gave you a massive warm hug as soon as you stepped in and that’s exactly how I would like our home to feel and smell like.

There a lot of things that you can do to make your home smell nice, for me the number one thing I love to use are refillable diffusers because you don’t really need to worry about them. You pop them open and then the smell just reaches all the corners in your home. I personally love using the Woodwick brand, in particular, their Cinnamon Chai just makes me feel super cozy.

Another thing are candles of course. I have to admit I’m not really the biggest candle lover but if the smell is just right I would shower in them haha. I never really use them because I forget to use them, to be honest, haha, it’s the same when it comes to jewelry, I know they’re a cherry on top of every outfit but I really can’t bother.

This particular brand of candles which is Yankee has probably the strongest smell of all the candle brands I used before. It was quite shocking when I lit the candle up and the whole apartment started smelling like I just made an apple pie. Cinnamon undertones are my absolute favorite, I put cinnamon in everything, to be honest, and I love that now our home smells like cinnamon as well.

I’m also glad we’re moving in the fall just because cinnamon is practically the middle name of both fall and winter.

Another tip that I want to share with you when it comes to making your home smell nice. Mix your soda bicarbonate and a few drops of your favorite essential oil, mix them together, and after you clean your sink, just put a few tablespoons of the mixture and leave it there for an hour and then rinse it with water.

Do you have any tips to share them with me? Let me know!
