Cheap thrills

As long as I can remember, I have always been a cheap buyer; I even developed a nickname for myself; it’s economical dork! For me an expression ‘’less is more’’, doesn’t always relate on simplicity, but on quantity of clothes too. The less it costs, the more you have! Yes, it really works that simply! I have NEVER in my life bought pants that costed more than 10.00 €, or pullover that costed over 7.00 €, or even a simple T-shirt that costed over 3.00€, I just function like that. The most expensive thing I have ever bought in my entire life, were over the knee boots from Boohoo! They were 50.00 €.

A few days ago I heard group of girls talking, and one of them said that she bought herself a pullover that costed 40.00 €, I’ve almost spitted my drink out, and then she added that that pullover was such a cheap investment, and then the spitting really begun! ARE YOU SERIOUS?! People, where are you buying those pullovers? Are they made out of gold or something? For that kind of money I can buy myself a pullover, pants and a freaking hamster!

Primark goodies

I don’t know what’s wrong with today’s society but people are so obsessed with what they’re wearing! I’m talking strictly about the brands here, everything must be in brand, if it’s not you’re a looser and there is no hope for you! ‘’Who are you wearing?’’ ‘’How much did it cost?’’ And then the bragging begins oh my… when they finish with gloating, the same questions are pointed towards me like sharp arrows and I’m just standing there, like ‘’I’m wearing H&M, I bought everything on sale and that’s all.’’ It’s like almost shameful to wear something on a low-price; well it certainly isn’t for me otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this post. I’m super proud to be an #economicaldork.

bought these heels for 3.19 € in C&A

I think that brands are giving people that safe feeling. You buy a brand and you can’t get disappointed in quality (that’s what you think), but truth be told the cheap stuff never disappointed me! And then there is ‘’I have to have it right now, literarily right now’’ moment! What is the difference when you buy yourself a pullover that costs 30.00 € and in less then one month goes on sale department and it costs only 5.00 €? Aren’t you just furious that you didn’t save that 25.00 €? I would be!  There is really no big code to decode on how to buy things low-price, my friends are always telling me how lucky  I am, that I find such low price clothing, but I don’t consider my self the lucky one, otherwise I would win lottery by now.

bought this fake, but oh so delicious replica of Bri Bri belt from Primark for 4€

So, to guide you on how to buy cheap clothing here are my tips to become an #economicaldork like I am.

First rule

Write down a list!

Just prepare yourself. I’m a control freak and I always do my shopping list first. That’s how you can control your impulsivity, to buy 10 other pieces that you really don’t need.

Second rule

What’s my budget?

You always need to have a budget otherwise you’re just going to spend way too much, trust me when the shopping chill starts to kick in, there is no way back! Always make sure that you don’t exceed the budget, stick to it like your life depends on it.

Third rule

Pay with cash

This is one more perk on how to control your budget, because when that card starts to slide….

Fourth rule

‘’Do I really need this’’ question!

Okay, so this is the most important question. I never asked myself this and I bought everything I saw, but didn’t put on, not even once, maybe once, who knows. But lately I’m much more careful with my shopping. I have yet another shirt in my hands and then I ask my self ‘’ Think! Do you really need this?’’ And it actually works! I put that shirt on that safe, cozy place that it was before and move on, with tears in my eyes….

Fifth rule

Shop alone!

I think shopping alone is the most therapeutic experience ever! If you’re about to go shopping with your boyfriend, think twice. Don’t torture his pour soul. He’s just going to stand there all miserable thinking ‘’Why God?’’ I’m telling you this through my experiences! You can bring him with you, but always make sure that he brings minimum one friend with him. You can shop care free and he can enjoy some dude time in the same shopping center. And when you need an advice if you look good in that bodycon dress he’s right there to support you and you can wipe that drool of his face and then it’s time for some smooching. #shy! If you’re going to shop with your friend make sure she/he knows exactly what you need. Friends can push you over your limits sometimes.

pants from H&M for 7€ and off the shoulder shirt for 5€

If you’re H&M freak then I have some advice’s for you that I’ve learned over the years. This is why H&M is a shop for you:

  • You can bring your old clothes and get 15% discount!
  • The best way to shop in H&M is end of season! Everything sparkles in red and it says BUY ME! (Control people, control)!
  • Most of people don’t know this, but H&M has a little secret code on their price tags. As you can see on photo right below my Photoshop skills are on point #NOT! And most importantly there is a little number written on it, and this is gold! H&M has 9 seasons and a quick look at price tag will tell you what the current season is. If you look for an example, at new season and there is number 4 written on price tag, and if you find a season 3 piece, the odds are good; this will be soon on sale. Isn’t this just enlightenment?
  • They always have 2 for 5.00 or 10.00 €!
  • And you can even scan the code on price tag, to see if the item that you wish so badly is still in stock online!

You can buy your whole look for max 30€ it doesn’t always need to be brand to look good on you. The real magic is happening when you combine all of the pieces together; it’s pretty much like a puzzle. Keep in mind that you can go from cheap to couture! This is your sacred sentence!  So let me give you a little challenge, for your next shopping adventure!

  1. Your budged must be only 30.00€,
  2. make yourself a list of what you REALLY need,
  3. try on something new,
  4. and try to shop on sales department, I swear you won’t regret it!
